Character: Haruko/Raharu Haruhara
Timeline: Post-series
Personality:
Haruka is best described as an eccentric person, she can change her demeanor from silly to serious at the drop of the hat and is seemingly able to adapt to any circumstance. This best seen in the contrast in her actions while at Naota's house in which she tends to be overly sexual and prone to goofy behavior such as giving impromptu lectures on the nature of rock and role or parading around the house wearing nothing but a towel. She seems to do this partly to get reactions out of other people, though she gives special attention to Naota, a boy who happens to be the key Haruko's plans. Also of this also lends Haruko to a rather spontaneous nature that sees her making decisions without putting much thought into the process. In contrast, when she enters battle or is dealing with her enemies Haruko displays a strange sense of playful rage, mixing her usual brand of silliness with a desire to eliminate those who stand in her way.

One can also see a sense of seriousness in Haruka in her her single minded obsession with gaining the power of the Pirate King, Atamosk. Indeed, Haruko first came to Earth in search of this mysterious being and everything she did upon arriving on the planet was in pursuit of Atamosk. From hitting Naota with her Vespa to waging war on Medical Machina, Haruko did it all in the name of claiming Atmosk's power for her own. This seems to be proven when Naota briefly fuses with Atmosk, an action which enrages Haruko and causes her to launch an attack on her former friend.

Haruko's other major personality trait is her ability to manipulate people to get what she wants. Haruko will entwine herself in the lives of others, pretending to be friendly and close to them as long as they can help her get closer to her goal. She will then proceed to use them until she has run the well dry, so to speak, and said person is no longer of use to her. They will then be cast aside like garbage. The biggest example of this is Naota, whom is the key to Haruko's plan to gain the power she seeks. She began by hitting Naota with her Vespa, then setting herself up as his family's housekeeper to be close to him. Slowly she built up a relationship with the young boy till the point where he seems to be in love with her, in fact, the last thing Naota said to Haruko before she left earth was “I love you”.

While Haruko's feelings Naota are often unclear, it is quite clear that she wanted to use the N.O. Space in his head to gain accesses to Atamosk. Haruko also tried a similar ploy with Naota's father, being she wanted to see if his head could be used as a N.O. Portal, but upon finding she could not, Haruko seemingly killed the middle aged man and dumped his corpse in a closet. She then constructed a robotic double of Naota's father and use it to insinuate that they were in a relationship. This served to further her plans for Naota as it caused him to become angry which in turn forced the N.O. Space in his head to activate.

Finally, Haruko's favorite method of to further her goals seems to be her own very overt sense sexuality. Even in her relationship with Naota, Haruko uses sex and romance as a weapon. She constantly tells other people that she possess some kind of special relationship with Naota and seems to go out of her way to put herself into awkward positions with the boy, such as when she pinned him down, wearing nothing but a towel, and forced Naota to kiss her. She is also fond of phrases that sound rather sexual but seemingly have no meaning. These include muttering “mouth to mouth” and the repetition of the sound “Furi kuri” among other things. Eventually all this attention seems to get to Naota as he comes to believe he is in love with Haruko. Haruko also tempted Naota's father in a similar way, but after finding out he was worthless to her plan she promptly dismissed the relationship. The end of Haruko's relationship with Naota seems to sum up her feelings about the youth well. After Atamosk left Earth, leaving no reason for Haruko to stay there, she simply told Naota she was leaving. Though she briefly asked the youth if he wanted to come with her, she quickly rescinded the offer telling Naota to “never mind, your still a kid” and to “wait for next time”. This seems to show that Haruko developed an interest in Naota beyond his N.O. potential, but his childish nature prevented the pair from forming any sort of meaningful relationship at that time.

According to Commander Amuro, the one “person” Haruko truly loved was Atomsk, though this comment is without context. This comment is odd as Atosmk is not a human being perse, but rather an energy being that takes the form of a gigantic, red, bird. Love in this case my refer Haruko's love of power or something similar, rather then an romantic love.

Background:
Sometime in the not so distant past, Haruko Haruhara was a member of a group know as the Galactic Space Police Brotherhood, a law keeping body of unknown size and power. Haruka's mission with this group was to track down the being known as Atomsk, the Pirate King. So named because his power is o great it is said he is capable of stealing an entire star system. Trailing Atomsk, Haruka eventually stumbled upon the planet Earth, where Atomsk was being held as a power source by a group known as Medical Mechanica, MM for short. MM had built its base of power in a small Japanese suburb called Mabase and from there intended from there to set forth a plan to “smooth out the wrinkles” of the planet. According to Commander Amura this entailed cause people to loose there ability to think for themselves, using the metaphor that the wrinkles in the human brain allow for unique thought.

Of course, because MM has possession of Atomsk this makes the group Haruko's sworn enemy. As such, her mission on earth was to retrieve the Pirate King from them. To do this she planned to use something known as an N.O gate, a portal that is formed by using the left and right hemispheres of the human being in unison. With this technique objects can be transported millions of miles in mere seconds. Finding a being capable a producing a gate powerful enough to transport Atomsk was a major concern to Haruka, one quickly remedied when she ran over a young boy named Naota with her scooter. She tests the boy's power in creating a gate by hitting him over the head with her guitar. This causes a large horn to protrude from Naota's forehead. Naota then leaves Haruko behind, believing her to be completely insane, and goes to see a doctor about the horn extending from his head. The doctor is revealed to be none other then Haruko who again to attempts to assault Naota in hopes of opening the gate in his head. The attack fails and Naota escapes to his home where he finds his father,Kamon, has hired Haruko to serve as the family's live in maid.

Tiered of dealing with crazy people, Naota leaves to hang out with his friend Mayami. The two talk about Naota's older brother, who had left to play baseball in America, which stresses the youth and causes the horn on his head to extend. This triggers a reaction in the metal bracelet Haruko wears, it apparently can sense any awakening of Atomsk's power, who then rushes to the scene. She finds a pair of giant robots had climbed out of Naota's N.O Gate and had begun fighting. One of the robot's,known as Canti, destroys the other with what appears to be the power of Atomsk, as the Pirate King's symbol and red coloring appear on Canti as he fights. Interested in the robot's connection to her prey, Haruko takes Canti home with her, where he begins to serve as hired help to Naota's family.

Next,we see Haruko make a direct attack on the MM's office in Mabase. She crashes her Vespa into the building, as it has no doors, and attempts to chat up a pair of security guards about what exactly MM does. She finds they know nothing and makes the rather odd remark that MM is not a place people work it has no doors or windows. This seemingly implies that something sinister is lurks behind the group's steam iron shaped office. Meanwhile, at home someone has been setting fires all over Mabase for an unknown purpose.

As it turns out, Naota's friend Mamimi was the one behind the blazes and did it to impress Canti, whom she associates with a god of fire, also known as Canti, from called Fire Starter. Eventually this Mamimi's arson spree brings her to the site of her old elementary school which had burned down years ago. While she had been attempting to summon the god from her game with a circle of cigarettes, the real Canti along with Naota show up in an attempt to save Mamimi from a robot that had again emerged from his forehead. The opposing robo is eventually quelled when Naota fuses with Canti and somehow invokes the power of Atomsk and damages the robot to the point where Haruko can finish it off. It seems Naota is directly involved with Atomsk at this point as Canti can only use his power when fused with the young boy.

Soon, Naota grows another set of horns, this time in the shape of cat ears. Which he keeps secret because he finds them embarrassing. To make matters worse he had been cast as the lead in his classes production of “Puss in Boots” a role he did not want. The play puts him into close contact with his classmate, Ninamori, whom is having problems at home as her dad is embroiled in a political scandal that was leaked in a magazine written by Naota's dad. The two eventually talk about what was going on with both their lives at a train station while Naota waited for Haruko to arrive. Much like she did with Naota, Haruko runs down Ninamori with her scooter. This incident reveals Naota's cat ears to his friend who immediately touches them and feels ill, which was due to the opening of a N.O gate in her head.

Due to the time of night, Ninamori stays over at Naota's place for the night and the two talk things over. Ninamori reveals she rigged the voting for play roles in order to get Naota to play the lead role. Haruko comments on this fact and essentially forces Naota to attend practise for the play, leading right into her plan to activate the N.O. Gate once again. At practice, Naota becomes mad at Ninamori and declares he didn't ever want to be in her play, she counters by ripping his hat off and showing the class the cat ears on Naota's head. This emotional outburst, triggers the gate in Ninamori's head and causes a monster to partly emerge, her power not being as great as Naota's, and rampage through the school with Ninamori still attached. Haruko once again runs to the scene with Canti in tow and work to destroy the beat before it can cause to much damage. The play goes on without a hitch and Naota, despite his embarrassment, is part of it.

The play resolved, life continues as normal for Naota and those around them. Haruko is recruited to Naota's grandpa's baseball team and seems to be their star batter, she hits a home run every time she is up. Her true reasoning to playing baseball, however, are more sinister. The balls she had been hiting somehow reached space and hit a satellite orbiting the earth. This caused the computers on board to fail and the satellite began to fall to earth. Back at home, Naota tells grandpa he is sorry he was not a better baseball player and walks home. On the way home Haruko catches up to Naota and informs him that he will never get anywhere unless he “Swings the bat” once in awhile. Upon reaching home, finally, Naota finds Haruko doing odd things with his dad and becomes angry. He leaves and assaults a local vending machine with his baseball bat. Upon returning home, Haruko gives Naota a few lessons on batting before going to bed. This leads him to being questioned Commander Amaro, a member of a group that acts as an in between for MM and Mabase's government. He warns Naota that Haruko is dangerous and to stay away from her. Later that night,, Haruko gives Naota a few lessons on batting. A bit later Naota walks into the house to find Haruko and his father in a rather intimate position. Which causes him to freak out and expel another device from his forehead, this time a tracking beacon for the falling satellite. Everything to this point, the falling of the satellite and the blatant activity with Naota's father had been orchestrated by Haruko to once again activate Naota's N.O gate

Naota leaves his home to hang out with Mamimi. Haruko soon finds the two and tells Naota to get ready for the night's baseball game saying it will be Canti's first game. This causes Mamimi to run off and leaves Naota alone. Naota returns home to find his father ranting about Haruko, this angers Naota who hits the TV with a baseball bat which causes the power cord attached to his father to short out. He had been a robot constructed by Haruko the whole time. Amuro again pays a visit to Naota and reveals Haruko's plan to him. Saying she does not care what happens to him or the Earth and only wants to acquire Atomsk's power. He also goes on to say that he wants Naota to get Haruko's help to save the town from the falling satellite and say its a request from a “Home town fan”. After Amuro leaves, Naota finds his real father stuffed into the closet and manages to revive him by running a hot bath. Kamon say Haruko had tried to create a N.O gate in his head but failed. Apparently only certain people can manifest one. Outside, the town is being evacuated as the satellite draws near, Haruko takes Naota to the top of the MM building and tells him to finally take a swing, pulling a guitar out of Naota's gate to use as a weapon. Drawing on the power of Atomsk, and shouting his brothers name for support, Naota deflects the satellite and saves the town. He then falls over exhausted and Haruko takes him home.

With a new day comes a new horn on Naota's head, this time in the shape of the hammer of a gun. The odd appendage gets him into a odd postion when Haruko pins Naota down on his bed and uses the horn as a way to force him to kiss her. This display of affection angers Naota's father who challenges his son to a air gun duel for Haruko's love, taking Canti along for the ride. During this contest, Canti is targeted by one of Amuro's associates while her superior gets his hair cut. The shot goes badly and dumps the girl in a nearby river, Canti takes a break from the game and helps her up, much to the girl's suprise, as she had thought he was dangerous. Meanwhile, Naota meets up with some of his school friends who had taken on a part time delivery job. They talk about how people had been calling Naota a hero for saving the town, which seems to give Naota something of a big head. This causes the gun-like horn to make a clicking noise.

It is revealed the woman who was cutting Amuro's hair was none other then Haruko, who after she was discovered does battle with Amuro and a dozen or so of his henchmen. Through a rather intense combat scene the battle ends as Haruko and Amuro spill onto the street to see Naota's horn has given rise to a new robot. In this case the creature emerged after Naota, with his new found ego, told Mamimi he liked her. Mamimi quickly rejects Naota and causes the robot to emerge from his N.O. Gate. The robot, which appears as a poncho wearing gunslinger, begins rampaging through the town quickly coming into conflict with Canti and Haruka. Between the two, and Canti absorbing Naota to invoke Atomsk's power, the robot is dealt with. But, it was not totally destroyed but its petrified corpse remains standing, looming a long shadow over Mabase. After the battle Haruko appears to be swooning over Canti due to his display of Atomsk's power.

In the days after the fight, a strange mist has surrounded Mabase. Naota comments that the mist makes it seem as if Mabase has been cut off from the rest of the world. Haruko has also disappeared for several days, seemingly because she has become a fugitive for her battles with MM. It is also revealed via Amuro that the remains of the gunslinger robot are part of a larger rig that would use the MM's hand iron like base to “smooth out the wrinkles” in the Earth, the only thing it is missing it is Terminal Core which was knocked out during the fight with Canti. The Core later washes up in the river that Mamimi often sits by, the young girl adopts the Core and begins to feed it the cell phones and bikes of those who had hurt her, causing it to grow to a huge size.

At the same time, Naota is feeling rather lonely from Mamimi's rejection and Haruko's sudden disappearance, encountering Amuro again who tells him not to trust Haruko. At home he finds that Haruko has come home, claiming she had been in Hawaii on vacation. He asks Haruko why she came back, to which she replies “I needed your head” referring to the fact that Naota's N.O Gate was the only one powerful enough for her needs. The two run off together, Naota now thinking Haruko is the only one who cares about him. The two putter around town for awhile until they eventually wake up one morning to see the Core had fused with Canti and was heading for the robot corpse near the MM offices. The core attempts to fuse with the robot but seems to be missing something, in this case Naota. Haruko and Naota make haste towards the robot. Haruko then forcibly fuses Naota with the core which activates the dead robot which then attempts to activate the MM building as well. Somehow, Naota breaks free of the Core having absorbed the full power of Atomsk. This angers Haruko, who had planned to absorb the power from the core herself. She attacks Naota and the two have an epic battle. Amaro shouts that Naota should show Haruko no mercy, but the youth can not bring himself to do this and stops the fight in order to confess his feelings for Haruko. Naota then tells Haruko he loves her, which releases the power of Atomsk from him.

Atomsk then manifests in his true form, a huge crimson bird, and departs the planet. Afterwords, Haruko plans to leave Earth to chase Atomsk again and offers Naota a chance to come with her. For some reason, Haruko quickly takes back this offer and takes off on her scooter into space. In the end, Naota takes Haruko's guitar from the wreckage of the MM building and seems to get on with his life. Mamimi leaves Mabase to become a popular photographer and Canti returns to Naota's house to continue acting as the family's housekeeper.

Abilities/Additional Notes:
Haruko is physically powerful and has exhibited incredible strength, speed, and stamina in canon. She is also quite capable in combat, most prominently in the use of a bass guitar as a blunt weapon. She also is skilled in playing guitar and can often be seen strumming such an instrument in her down time.

Haruko also has the power to manually open N.O. gates in the heads of those who have special potential. This power allows her to pull objects from across vast distances via a N.O. portal. As Adstringendum is closed from the rest of the universe if Haruko opened such a portal while there it would likely only be able to connect a small area limited to a few miles at most.

Sample Journal Post:
[Sitting in her room alone, Haruko is covered in little more then the sheets from her bed . The PCD is pointed at her in such a way that it is impossible to tell if she is wearing anything underneath the thin veil of cotton.]

Ohhhhh boysssss, I was wondering if any of you would like to come by my room and help with one of a “problem” of mine. I simply cannot get this done on my own, and could use the the help of a big, strong man to help me out. Just one of you will do, as they say to many cooks spoil the stew. Ohhhh, anyone wishing to help must be good with their hands as well, I imagine you all know why... And ff course, you will be rewarded for your services, but I'm sure we can work that out face to face....

Sample RP:
It seems Haruko has grown impatient with the world around, without any small boys to torment or pirate kings to chase she has spent the past few nights stalking the recesses of the city, scaring small wild life and searching for something known only to the gods themselves. Tonight, however, her treasure hunt seems to have produced something other then dust and old rusted metal. With all her strength, which is quite a large amount, Haruko pulls upon the huge object hidden beneath a myriad of junk and rubble.

With a final surge of strength, the object is finally reclaimed from its dusty tomb, falling to the ground with a mighty thud. Haruko, after taking a second to catch her breath, steps back to take in the glory of her prize, a rusted out scooter, lacking a engine, fuel, or anything else for that matter. Picking her nose, Haruko voices her opinion on the vehicle before her “It's kind of a piece of crap, isn't it?”As if responding to her comment, the scooter falls over, its hollow innards rattling with debris. “But, beggars can't be choosers I suppose, time to get you home, you rusted piece of junk. I'm gonna fix you up and scare up some fun in the junk of a town...” Haruko then proceeds to wheel her prize back to her room, smiling the whole walk there.
